Workplace by Facebook Boosts Communication for Businesses Worldwide

Over the past few years, Facebook has been looking for new ways to diversify the services it offers. One such example is Workplace by Facebook - a versatile new tool which was launched yesterday. The new product is a way for companies to stay connected, share and store information, communicate - and best of all,  it's AD FREE just like the Facebook of yesteryears. There has been a need for the use of SOCial tools in enterprise activities, and so far, Facebook is one of the only companies making bold steps toward filling that void.

Generally, Facebook releases take place in the company’s home country, the United States. However, this time around the social media giant will launch its take on enterprise communication tools in London, where Workplace by Facebook was first dreamed up.

Workplace by Facebook has set its sights on improving productivity and communication IN the workplace.

In addition to aesthetic updates like changing from the iconic Facebook blue color to a business-friendly grey, users will have a totally separate platform from the original Facebook. Workplace accounts are strictly for work interactions and will not mix with users’ personal profiles. So how is it different from just creating a work-friendly account on the original platform?

Workplace creates a microcosm of the social media site, just for your company. Employees can communicate with coworkers, post pictures, plan for upcoming events, and make office announcements at ease. As an added bonus, Workplace will employ auto-tranSLAte functionality to make communication between foreign nations easier than ever.

Aside from the fact that transitions will be easy with so many people already using the site for personal accounts, Workplace is hoping Work Chat and Video Call options will be able to rival the likes of Skype for Business, Google Hangouts, and Slack.

In an attempt to mitigate the concerns of IT departments, HR departments and paranoid employees alike, the improved security measures in Workplace are separate from the personal platform and unique to the enterprise. Naturally, our first instinct is to audit the platforms security measures- and it seems Workplace by Facebook has done it's due diligence with the addition of new avenues of privacy and new security guarantees. Right on the front page, Workplace highlights that "Security is Core to our Business". Built on Facebook's custom made IT infrastructure, the multi-billion dollar company has developed tools to safeguard data and follows third-party industry standards. If you have any specific questions about Workplace's security protocols, their public SOC3 report and further information is available in their Trust Center

Regardless of whether or not you’re a fan of the original, Workplace by Facebook is a product keen on helping businesses improve communications and increase work productivity.
