SOPA/PIPA: Wikipedia, many other websites protest

Thousands of web and technology organizations including Google, Wikipedia, Mozilla, and Tucows have coordinated a blackout and campaign to raise awareness of the two proposed internet bills. The to two similar upcoming bills: SOPA in the House and the PROTECT IP Act in the Senate.


Some sites like Google and WordPress blocked out their logos and showcased expressed their stance on the SOPA/PIPA. Others site such as Wikipedia, BoingBoing and Reddit complete shutdown their sites so visitors couldn't miss their message.


This tactic appears to have been quite successful in getting attention of quite a few Senators, Representatives and members of the press that were quiet about SOPA/PIPA until recently.
